Biography
Biography
The work was cabaret and television as much as film. She sang and stripped in European clubs, and her bust carried her onto British television as a regular on Eurotrash, the Channel 4 late-night show that made a format out of European absurdity. In 1995 she appeared at the Cannes Film Festival for the presentation of a film, and the photographs from that week travelled further than the film did. She recorded two singles, Airbag Generation and Set Me Free, and recorded a Euro disco number alongside them. The material was thin by design; the frame was the act, and she knew it.
She died in March 2000 at her home in Grasse, on the French Riviera, five years after the career began. The work stopped there, at a point when she was still recording and still touring the club circuit. What survives is short and strange: a handful of cabaret routines, a television slot, two pop singles, and a set of photographs in which the proportions are the only subject. The billing is still understood instantly, years later, which is a longevity that has nothing to do with the films. This page records the career in the order it happened.
